We are too selfish
Too demanding
Wanting another’s grief
To fill in voids
Of our silence
Our complicity
Not allowing a father
To mourn the loss of his child
Cameras invading
Personal space
As if F16s
Weren’t enough of
An invasion
As if Bombs
Exploding weren’t enough
Flashing lights
Capturing a moment
Because we feed on
Personal
Forgetting souls have risen
To the heavens
Whilst likes and shares
Raise (un)warranted
attention
But we turn our backs
To an unholy war
When suited
Because moments
Of sorrow
Are ravished to feed
Desires
Won’t bring her back
But our conscious
Is somehow
Click
At ease.
